The Effective Executive Program is designed
to enable busy professionals to achieve new levels of productivity
and effectiveness. The program consists of the following:
- initial consultation to discuss the areas you’d like to improve, your perception
of workplace issues and your perceived barriers to effectiveness.
- comprehensive assessment of your personality style, leadership style, thinking
habits, work habits, analysis of time log and 360 degree feedback
instrument, (if desired). These assessments can be completed online.
- feedback and strategy session to review results of your assessment data,
identify your critical success factors or key performance indicators at work,
complete an analysis of the percentage of time spent on
important tasks (A,B,C time), identify
time-wasters, and prioritize your development areas. Identify current work
projects that will be completed over course of program as you create new daily
structure, thinking and work habits.
- keep online daily log; communicate with coach through daily e-mail, phone
contact, and weekly face-to-face meetings to monitor progress toward completing
work projects, developing leadership skills and establishing new habits.
- final face-to-face session to review and assess goal attainment.
- follow up session (2 weeks later) to monitor ongoing progress
- free, ongoing use of online tools (online assessments, online daily log with
instant computation of A,B, C time, etc.) to reinforce your new skills and
habits
Feedback and Strategy Session
In the feedback and strategy session, Dr. Wycoff will provide you
with feedback from your comprehensive assessment. With this data, you will work
one-on-one with Dr. Wycoff to assess your
personal strengths and ineffective habits, your work environment, time-wasters
and barriers to effectiveness. This session is also used to analyze your time
usage and to set goals for optimal use of your time throughout your workday.
Most clients want to increase their personal effectiveness and leadership
skills, becoming more focused, more organized, less crisis-driven, and better at
managing direct reports, deadlines and priorities. Many of our clients hold
significant leadership positions, either running departments in large companies
or operating their own businesses, and use our program to brainstorm, to
articulate and focus their goals, and to establish the systems, structure, and
work habits necessary to grow their company.
Tailored Program
After the feedback and strategy session, your program is tailored
to target the specific leadership, thinking and behavior habits
that impede your productivity. Often, individuals are not aware
of how strongly their beliefs and thinking habits affect their work.
The main tenet of our program is that underlying thought patterns
contribute to habits such as procrastination, distraction and perfectionism.
These thought patterns and habits must be addressed for productivity
to be increased and maintained.
An initial assessment usually reveals a combination of ineffective
habits such as:
- Procrastination, or avoiding tasks that are tedious or complex
- Getting "lost in the weeds" and failing to shift to
other tasks when appropriate
- Not clearly communicating key objectives to direct reports
- Failing to follow-up with direct reports and hold them accountable
for meeting objectives
- Saying "yes" to too many requests and failing to follow
through
- Shifting from task to task without completing the most important
tasks
- Lack of structure to your workday
- Getting lost in e-mails, phone calls, or unneccessary meetings
- Difficulty approaching authority
- Continually discounting progress and accomplishments
- Periods of high and low productivity
- Becoming overwhelmed by the "big picture" rather than
on the small milestones of progress
- Lack of planning
- Ruminating about projects rather than getting started
- Compensating for lack of focus by working long hours
- Continually engaging in negative self-talk without realizing
it
- Avoiding tasks because of overly perfectionist expectations
- A tendency to minimize the value of one's time and talents
- A tendency to underestimate the time required for task accomplishment
Why It Works
Because the Effective Executive System is "experiential",
meaning that new behaviors are practiced daily and constantly reinforced,
these new habits are able to take hold. The result is that you establish
a new way of thinking about, structuring, and following through
on your goals. Periodic follow up sessions assess which habits
have "stuck", and which habits need further emphasis.
